The PIT/Forklift Training is a one-day workshop detailing general safety, operation, training and guidelines for operating a PIT (Powered Industrial Truck) or forklift. This course will enable you to develop a training program for PIT and forklift operators. It covers mandatory classroom training instruction requirements of the current OSHA forklift standard. If you operate a PIT/Forklift, need a refresher course, wish to train other operators or are a newly hired operator, you cannot afford to miss this training.

INSTRUCTOR
Wilder H. Allen is a federal OSHA authorized instructor for general industry and construction with 34 years of professional experience in the construction, general, heavy equipment and utility industries. He is a former Indiana OSHA compliance officer trainer and is president of Safety Management Corporation, one of the leading OSHA training and compliance companies in the nation.

This half-day workshop will cover the current 2009 NFPA 70E "Standard for Electrical Safety in the Workplace" guidelines and give the participant a working knowledge of how to apply these guidelines.

The participant will be provided a workbook with a summary of the presentation, the OSHA regulations on electrical safety and relevant parts of NFPA 70E for understanding of PPE requirements.

This training is designed for employees, managers and facility personnel who have potential exposure to live electrical components. Use of volt meters and working near energized electrical components are where these regulations apply.

INSTRUCTOR
Kurt Rayburg, CSP, CPEA, is a certified safety professional with more than 22 years of experience. He recieved his BS in safety management and is an authorized OSHA outreach trainer for both construction and industry. Rayburg has worked in the manufacturing and insurance industries providing risk management perspectives to control risk. He is Rosenfeld Einstein’s workplace safety director and offers safety consultation to employers of all disciplines.

The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce's Business Speaks at the State House, a gathering of over 500 of South Carolina's leading business people, constitutional officers and members of the General Assembly, is set to take place January 27, 2010. Held at the Marriott Columbia in conjunction with Industry Appreciation Week, this year's Business Speaks town meeting will begin at 4 p.m. This is a special opportunity to hear updates on the 2010 Competitiveness Agenda and the General Assembly and speak directly to your House and Senate leaders.

In addition, Senate and House members will participate in an open panel discussion moderated by David Stanton. Important business issues such as healthcare, infrastructure, economic development incentives, environnment and energy will be discussed.
