The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce offers the Lean Innovations Series to improve manufacturers’ efficiency. It is presented in partnership with the South Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (SCMEP). Manufacturing workshops include the 5S System, Lean Manufacturing and Lean Office.

The 5S System is part of an integrated suite of tools and services developed specifically for small manufacturers. The 5S System workshop offers an opportunity to experience how to reduce waste in the mounting plate assembly area of a simulated production facility.

The Lean Manufacturing workshop provides a systematic approach to eliminating waste and creating flow throughout the whole company while using a live simulation. Benefits of Lean Manufacturing include reduced cycle time, reduced inventory levels, shorter lead times and increased profits.

The Lean Office workshop focuses on reducing total cycle time between orders being placed and payment receipt. At the end of the workshop, participants will have redesigned a leaner office that improves customer and employee satisfaction while speeding the order-to-cash cycle.
