Education: Investing in Our Future Workforce

There is no greater investment that the business community can make in its future than investing in the education of today’s children and tomorrow’s workforce. It is a responsibility that all citizens share.

The South Carolina Chamber of Commerce’s education department is actively involved in helping to ensure that our state continues down the path of education improvement. Through active public policy and legislative advocacy, sponsorship of selected research and forums, and nurtured relationships with local chambers of commerce and school districts, the South Carolina Chamber works to improve education.

As the unified voice of the business community, the South Carolina Chamber is working in collaboration with education leaders to advocate for a much needed comprehensive approach to education and workforce development in South Carolina. The South Carolina Chamber has taken a lead role in implementing the requirements of the Education and Economic Development Act (EEDA). The EEDA established a system called Personal Pathways to Success that assists students with career exploration, preparing them for a job in one of South Carolina’s 16 career clusters.

Through South Carolina Business Week, top-of-the-class high school students receive hands-on experience and education in all aspects of business leadership. In addition, the South Carolina GEAR UP program works to increase the number of low-income students who are prepared to enter and succeed in postsecondary education.

The Chamber strongly encourages the support of the business community as the educators of South Carolina move forward in their endeavor to better equip our students for the workplace of tomorrow. Our future workforce needs your help.
