Silver Crescent Foundation honors South Carolina’s Manufacturers

Beginning in 2009, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and the Silver Crescent Foundation will join together and host a luncheon to honor South Carolina’s manufacturers on September 22, 2009 at the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology (SIMT) in Florence. The Chamber currently serves as a sponsor of the Salute to Manufacturing, an annual event hosted by the Silver Crescent Foundation to improve public awareness of the importance of the manufacturing industry, encourage students to pursue careers in manufacturing and technology and honor manufacturers that have made significant contributions to workforce development in South Carolina.

For many years, the two organizations have hosted separate events and manufacturing awards to honor and recognize excellence in manufacturing. In an effort to further celebrate South Carolina’s manufacturing community, the two organizations will host and present the new honor, to be called the Silver Crescent Manufacturer of the Year Award, to one manufacturer in each of three categories: small, medium and large. The awards will recognize the state’s outstanding manufacturers that exhibit strong economic impact, commitment to the workforce and involvement and contributions to their communities.
